Agartala, Tripura, 15th of June, 2025 : With the initiative of Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura organized 8th Livercon at International Convention Centre, the International Fairground premises, Hapania Agartala, Tripura on Saturday (14th June, 2025). In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.

Addressing at the inaugural ceremony of two-dat 8th Livercon event Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said It has been possible to bring 14 lakh people of the State under the coverage of Hepatitis-B vaccination so far. The Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura organized the program at the Hampaniya International Fair premises. Doctors and volunteers from the state and outside the state participated in it. The Chief Minister also unveiled a souvenir named ‘The Voice of Liver’ at the event. The theme of the program organized this time is – ‘Liver Health for All, Empowerment of Community’.
that since 2020, 1,313 patients with Hepatitis-C have been completely cured after receiving free treatment in the State. Moreover, 3,476 people with Hepatitis-B have been provided free treatment for life. In addition to AGMC and GBP hospitals in our state, free treatment for Hepatitis-B and C is available in all district hospitals and Bishalgarh Subdivisional Hospital. In this case, necessary medicines are also provided free of cost to the patients.

“The State Government and Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura are working together to make the State free from hepatitis. More than 6,000 vaccines have been received for hepatitis vaccination in the financial year 2025-26. Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura has been playing an important role in creating awareness about hepatitis, providing vaccination and treatment in the state. In recent times, the rate of fatty liver disease has been increasing. As a result, diseases like liver cirrhosis and liver cancer are increasing. High blood pressure, obesity, increased triglycerides are the main causes of chronic liver disease. Liver transplantation is an effective way to prevent liver diseases. Therefore, the state government has also taken necessary steps regarding liver transplantation.”, Chief Minister Dr. Shaha said.
Highlighting the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Saha remarked that the state’s health system has improved significantly in the last 7 years. Investments are being made at the public and private levels in the development of medical services and infrastructure in the state. Due to the increase in people’s trust in the state’s doctors, the tendency to go out of the state for treatment has decreased to a great extent. To improve health infrastructure, the number of beds in AGMC and GBP hospitals has been almost doubled. Work is underway to increase another 100 beds. Many more super specialty services like Cardiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Urology have already been launched.

The Chief Minister also added that claims worth about 239 crores and 17 crores have been settled under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) and the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) respectively. Trauma Care Centres have already been opened in Gomati, Dhalai and South Tripura districts. Trauma Care Centres will also be opened in North Tripura District Hospital soon. Besides, two more new Primary Health Centres will be set up in Dhalai and South Tripura districts. Under the PM Divine Project, infrastructure development of Dental Colleges, Maternal and Child Health Departments in AGMC and GBP Hospitals and De-Addiction Centres in Bishramganj will be done at a cost of 515 crores.

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries participants there Kiran Gitte (IAS) Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department, Renowned Gastroenterologist Dr. Gourdas Chowdhury, Director of Health Services Dr. Tapan Majumder, Dr Pradip Bhaumik, Founder president of Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura, and Secretary Dr. Arkdeep Chowdhury and may other distinguished dignitaries were present in the ceremony.
