Agartala, 17th of March 2024 : On 17 March 24 at about 1325 hrs, when BSF troops were performing duty ahead of fence in the AOR of BOP Magroli, observed 15 – 20 miscreants approaching IBBF from India side with head load and 25 -30 miscreants from BD side with bamboo ladder. BSF troops challenged them to stop but they didn’t pay heed, became aggressive and encircled BSF Jawan on duty. Sensing imminent danger to life and govt property BSF Jawan fired 01 PAG round which hit one of the smugglers and was further apprehended.
On this the about 10-15 miscreants got aggressive and assaulted BSF Jawan, tried to snatch the weapon and tried to take him to BD territory. On this BSF Jawan again fired which compelled BD smugglers to flee away towards BD territory.
In this incident one of BSF Jawan got grievous injury on his forehead, who was further evacuated to nearby District hospital where he got preliminary treatment. Now the condition of the Jawan is stable.
In this incident one BD national namely Saddam Hussein (age 23 years approx) s/o Waris Ali resident of village Dastaki, PS Kulaura, Dist Moulovibazar who was hit by PAG was also evacuated to District hospital where doctor declared him brought dead.
It is also learnt that 01 miscreants also got injury in the firing who was taken to BD territory by BD miscreants. Protest in this regard with BGB is being lodged.
