Sonamura, Tripura, 3rd of August, 2026 : On the basis of secret information Sepahijala District Police, in joint operations with BSF, TSR battalions, Forest officials and other agencies, carried out a massive crackdown on illicit Ganja (cannabis) cultivation on Sunday (2nd August, 2026) from the morning 8 am at various locations of the district.
A large-scale destruction operation was conducted under Sonamura Police Station leading by Inspector Tapas Das, Officer-In-Charge of Sonamura Police Station covering searched at Kamalnagar Ghatigarh area & found total 22 no,s Ganja seed beds where found approx 7 lakh ganja sampling & destroy on spot after observing all legal formalities support from 81 BN BSF, 11th BN TSR and other sister agencies.
According to sources a total uprooting approximately 7 lakh ganja sampling destroy on spot, And also found approx 50 kg,s Ganja Seeds & approx 500 Kg,s dry leaves of cannabis accordingly destroy on spot after observing all legal formalities The destination market value of the seized ganja is approx – 70 lakhs.
Interacted with media Inspector Tapas Das, Officer in Charge Sonamura Police Station gave details about this matter. OC also stated that such operations against illegal contrabands would continue next day.
