Distribution Of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Merit Award Programme-2023 By SC Welfare Department Of West Tripura District.

Agartala, 3rd of February, 2024 : With the initiative of SC Welfare Department of West Tripura District distribution of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Merit Award Programme-2023 has been organized at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan, Agartala on Saturday (3rd February, 2024). The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the Hon’ble SC Welfare, ARD, Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das and other dignitaries.

“Ambedkar fought for the rights of dalits. Dr. Ambedkar fought to eradicate the social evils like untouchability and for the rights of the dalits and other socially backward classes throughout his life. He wanted to build a new India Where everyone will have equal rights. So the current generation. Like Ambedkar, the path and ideal must be accepted.”, Hon’ble SC Welfare, ARD, Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das said at the distribution of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Merit Award Programme-2023 today.

He said that the Schedule Caste Welfare Department has taken multifaceted projects for the welfare of Schedule Caste students. Initiatives have been taken to develop boarding houses and educational infrastructure including providing pre-matric, post-matric scholarships. Schedule Caste Welfare Department has come forward to help those who want to study experimental courses like Medical, Engineering, Nursing, Pharmacist, Agri B.Sc, Veterinary.

In the event, Dr. BR Ambedkar Special Merit Award, Gold Medal, 25 thousand rupees with certificate were given to the 9 (Madhyamik-7 & H.S stage -2) Scheduled Caste top 10th ranked in the Madhyamik and H.S. (+2) Stage. Dr. BR Ambedkar Special Merit Award to 15 thousand rupees with certificate were given to 471 SC meritorious Students who passed the first division in the Madhyamik examinations and H.S (+2) stage of 2023 in Sadar, Jirania and Mohanpur sub-divisions were awarded. A total of 244 meritorious students of Class IX who passed the first division in Sadar sub-division were awarded 700 rupees with Certificate.

Asim Saha, Director, SC Welfare Department, students of various schools, teachers, parents and many other dignitaries were present in the programme.
