

Financial assistance was given to the families of deceased those who were electrocuted during the return Chariot at Kumarghat under the Unakoti district on Monday (3rd, July 2023). Hon’ble Youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Education, Labour Minister Tinku Roy handed over the Government assistance of Rs. 4 lakh to the family members of the deceased. Speaking to the media, the Youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Education Minister said the Government is with the families of the dead and injured. This assistance has been given as per the promise announced by the State Government so that the families do not have to face any other problems in the education of boys and girls. He said that the financial assistance announced from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund will also be provided within a few days. Rs. 3. 90 lakh have been paid to the family members of the 7 people who died due to electrocuted in the return chariot. As promised earlier, the Kumarghat Sub Divisional Magistrate given an interim assistance of Rs. 10,000 to the families of the deceased.

It is to be noted that on the day, night train of this tragic accident, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha visited the place of occurrence and met with the injured persons and inquired about their health condition at Kumarghat and Fatikroy primary hospital. That night Chief Minister held a press conference at PWD Dak Bungalow, Kumarghat and informed that the State Government will provide financial assistance of Rs. 4 lakh to the next of kin of each victim. Moreover, financial assistance of Rs. 2.5 lakh will be given to those injured more than 60 percent and Rs. 74,000 to those injured 40 to 60 percent.
