Dharmanagar, Tripura, 19th of June 2026 : In view of the upcoming monsoon season and the possibility of flooding, the Dharmanagar Sub- Divisional Administration of North Tripura conducted a sub-divisional level flood mock exercise at the Haflong Tea Garden area on Friday morning.
The drill was organized to assess the preparedness of various departments in handling flood-related emergencies, including coordination among agencies, rescue operations, relief distribution, evacuation of affected people to safer locations, and maintenance of essential services during disasters.
Representatives from the administration, Disaster Management Department, Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Health Department, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), among others, participated in the exercise.As part of the mock drill, rescue operations were demonstrated, including the evacuation of stranded people by boat, provision of first aid, and management of temporary relief camps.
Officials stated that such exercises are conducted to ensure swift and coordinated action during natural disasters.The Sub- Divisional Administration emphasized that the primary objectives of the programme are to strengthen disaster preparedness, enhance coordination among departments, and raise public awareness about disaster management and safety measures.
