Heavy rains pounding south and central Kerala causing flash floods and landslides in many parts have claimed many lives in the state, prompting the state government to seek the assistance of the defence forces for rescue operations. Army, NDRF, police and the Fire Force along with the locals began rescue operations on Sunday morning, where over a people have been missing due to landslides accompanied by heavy downpour. Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan and took stock of the situation.
