Freshers Induction Program Organized By National Institute Of Technology (NIT).

Agartala, Tripura, 20th of August, 2024 : National Institute of Technology Agartala, An Institute of National Importance under Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, successfully conducted its Induction Program 2024 for recently admitted First Year graduate students.

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala announces the successful completion of its 1-Day long Induction Program for Academic Year 2024- 25, held in the Visvesvaraya Auditorium and Virtual Class Room of its Campus on 19th August, 2024 (Monday) under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Sarat Kumar Patra, Director, NIT Agartala. The Induction Program 2024 was conducted for the students admitted in the B.Tech and Dual Degree programmes of the NIT Agartala and Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Agartala in the Academic Year 2024- 25. This year’s program welcomed the bright and enthusiastic students into the Institutes’ community, marking the beginning of their academic journey at NIT Agartala and IIIT Agartala (NIT Agartala being the mentor Institute of IIIT Agartala).

The Induction Program was thoughtfully designed to provide newly admitted students with a comprehensive introduction to campus life, academic expectations, and available resources at the Institute. The theme of this year Induction event was kept as “Shaping Future of the Future Leaders”. The program was divided into two sessions of 2 hours in the day. Each sessions were divided among several sections of students of 1st year. The sessions were outlined as below:

Introductory Address by Prof. Rajib Saha, Dean (Academics), NIT Agartala who firstly welcomed all the students at the Institute. Further, he introduced the Director, Deans, HoDs, Chairmans of various centers, 1st year coordinators and Registrar of NIT Agartala to the students. He, then shared the Institute’s vision and outlined the exciting opportunities awaiting students. Prof. Sarat Kumar Patra, Director, NIT Agartala and Prof. Abhay Kumar, Director, IIIT Agartala in their addresses welcomed all the students at NIT Agartala. It was mentioned about their beginning of journey that is filled with opportunities for personal and academic growth which will indirectly help growth of country as well and spread the awareness of VIKSHIT BHARAT mission. Further, the Directors also expressed that support will be provided by the dedicated faculty and staff of the Institute and specifically mentioned about maintaining good health. Concluding their speeches, they again welcomed the students and wishing them best for their stay at the Institute for the next 4 and 5 years for B.Tech and Dual Degree students respectively.

The Special Speaker for the Induction Program 2024 for a session was Ms. Chandni Chandran, IAS, the DM & Collector, Khowai District, Tripura. The Director, NIT Agartala felicitated Ms. Chandran with a token of gratitude and uttariyo on behalf of the Institutes and thanked for accepting the invitation inspite of her busy schedule. Dr. Anuradha Nongmaithem, MHSS Deptt., NIT Agartala introduced Ms. Chandni Chandran and highlighted her career and achievements being a young female IAS officer deputed in the State of Tripura. Then she invited Ms. Chandran for a speech to motivate the students. Ms Chandran, at the outset of her speech thanked the Institute authorities for inviting her to deliver motivational speech. She shared her academic life at IIT Madras. She then mentioned about her journey towards the Indian Administrative Services, that has planted an inspirational seed in the students for service towards the Nation and contribute towards development of the country. She again congratulated the students for getting admission at the prestigious Institute and wished them a very bright future ahead.

In the next phase of the program, Prof. John Deb Barma and Prof, Uttam Kumar Bera, Deans of Students Welfare in their speeches mentioned about the amenities and facilities available at the Institute, including the ABV Sports Complex and Health Centre. They also mentioned about the Students Discipline Manual and advised all the new students to abide by the rules and regulations of the Institute. Further, it was also suggested that students should participate in the Extra-curricular activities in addition to their regular academic curriculum. They welcomed the students at the Institute, wishing them a happy stay in the institute and help themselves build their career. Prof. Deb Barma, also being the Chairman of the Centre for Career Development, named some of the top tier IT and core companies/ organizations that regularly conduct their recruitment drives every year, and given a glimpse of placement in both the Institutes. Shri. Litan Bhaumik, Students Counselor has mentioned in his speech to enjoy their academic life at the Institute and may meet him or contact him any time without any hesitation, if any student feels necessary.

Dr. Suman Deb, Asstt. Professor (CSE Deptt.) & Asso. Dean, in his audio visual presentation tried to help students make familiar with the several departments, centers, sports complex etc., virtually. He also insisted that students must involve themselves in the innovation cells, incubations programs, and also develop their entrepreneurship skills, towards Atmanirbhar Bharat. He also welcomed all the students, congratulating them for their achievement in getting admission to NIT Agartala and IIIT Agartala.

At the end phase, a meditation program also organized with the help of sisters of Prajapita Brahmhakumari Agartala center with an aim to promote mental well beingness for future life. The Vote of Thanks were delivered in the corresponding sessions of the Induction Program by Dr. Sadhan Gope, Asstt. Professor (EE Deptt.) and Dr. Nabarun Biswas, Asstt. Professor (PE Deptt.), NIT Agartala who are the 1st Year Coordinator and Co-coordinator respectively. In their addresses, they thanked all the students for attending the program, respected speakers of the program and the other faculty members and staff of the Institute who were directly or indirectly involved and helped for successful conduction of the program. They also advised that students without any hesitance may contact them or the respective section faculty coordinator in any academic issue faced at Institute.
