GDC Khumulwng Observes IWD Program.

Amarpur, Tripura, 9th of March 2025 : With the initiative of GDC Khumulwng girl’s hostel authority International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025 has been observed with due respect & dignity in Khumulwng park today. On this auspicious occasion a large number of college students, professors and other dignitaries have gathered to participate in the programme. In the presence of many programme participants Mrs. Maharani Hrangkhawl, asst. professor cum hostel superintendent, has inaugurated the observation event. Addressing the students Maharani Hrangkhawl said, ” Each year IWD is celebrated with a pacific theme that highlights key aspect of gender equality. The theme of 2025 is ‘Accelerate Action’.  women’s achievements and advocates for gender equality. Marking 30 years since the Beijing Declaration, IWD 2025 focuses on “Rights, Equality,  Empowerment” and “Accelerate Action.” From historical protests to global recognition, IWD remains a vital platform for women’s empowerment and social justice. Women have a significant contribution in our society. Every year on March 8, the world comes together to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD), a day dedicated to recognising women’s achievements across various fields. It is also an occasion to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of women in different roles—whether as mother, daughter, professional, or leader.

Beyond celebration, International Women’s Day serves as a crucial platform for highlighting the challenges women face, from workplace inequality to barriers in education and political participation. It is a time to reflect on the ongoing struggle for women’s rights and to push for a more inclusive and equitable society.

This day reminds us of the importance of empowering women, ensuring their safety, and eliminating discrimination in all its forms. While many enthusiastically prepare for the festivities, not everyone is fully aware of the historical and social significance behind March 8 as a global day of recognition and advocacy.” Amidst others there were Sumita D/B, asst. sub-inspector, Sima D/B, woman constable and many others remained present in the event.
