Agartala, Tripura, 14th of October, 2026 : State Government has decided to rename of 8 locations as Seva Jyoti Chowk where Seva Jyoti (torch) will be installed permanently. Informing this Chief Minister Prof (Dr.) Manik Saha in a press Conference held at Civil Secretariat today stated that ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan is being organised across the State of Tripura from 17th September, 2026 to 17th October, 2026 keeping conformity with the entire nation. This marks 25 years since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on 7th October, 2001 transitioning into his role as Prime Minister of India. Dedicated core theme of the Abhiyan is Seva (service), Development and Antodaya (empowering the last person in the queue).
He added that Seva Jyoti Yatra (Resolution for a developed India), one of the essential components of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan was organised on 7th October, 2026 where rural and urban communities were connected through regional processions, rallies with wide scale participation of youth. Under Seva Jyoti Yatra, there will be the Seva Jyoti Chowk (or squares) where torch symbolizing the Viksit Bharat will be installed permanently. The implementation of Seva Jyoti Chowks holds deep cultural and community significance, acting as physical monuments to commemorate Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s completion of 25 years of continuous public service as head of the Governments.
Chief Minister Prof (Dr.) Manik Saha further stated that the primary purpose of installing these special intersections is to serve as permanent memorials. They are designed to keep the Prime Minister’s ideals of welfare for the poor, consistent grassroots governance and the national vision of achieving a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047 alive in the public consciousness. Rather than just static structures, these squares are intended to act as daily inspiration hubs for local citizens which meant to encourage public participation in social responsibilities, including cleanliness drives, voluntary community labour and environmental initiatives like tree plantations, fostering a shared commitment toward civic and national development. The installation of Seva Jyoti Chowks acts as the urban and administrative anchor where ceremonial torches travel through hundreds of villages to bridge the gap between rural communities and cities publicizing the reach of welfare schemes directly to the ‘last person’ in society.
Locations which will be renamed as Seva Jyoti Chowk’ are Junction adjoining to Ranir Pukur, Sonar Tari State Guest House & Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel, Agartala under West Tripura District (as State level), DNV School Playground Tri-junction, Dharmanagar under North Tripura District, Srirampur Bridge Chowmuhani, Kailashahar under Unakoti District, Junction adjoining to Ambassa Town Hall under Dhalai District, Junction near Mahadeb Tilla under Khowai District, Junction near Bishramganj Motor Stand, Bishramganj under Sepahijala District, Jamtala crossing at corner of the Jagannath Dighi, Udaipur under Gomati District and Junction near Office of the Deputy Director, Agriculture, Belonia under South Tripura District.
Chief Minister added that these Chowks shall comprise suitably designed Central Island with a traditional Jyoti installation symbolising the spirit of Seva, enlightenment, dedication and service to the people. The design shall be simple, dignified and in keeping with the urban surroundings, while ensuring adequate road space, visibility and safe vehicular circulation. In the Press Conference Secretary of the ICA Department Kiran Gitte was also present.
