Dharmanagar, Tripura, 28th of April 2026 : Despite an administrative ban on the movement of heavy vehicles within Dharmanagar town in North Tripura district, the unchecked movement of dumpers and other heavy vehicles continues to rise day by day. This has led to rapid deterioration of road conditions and growing concerns over pedestrian safety. Local residents fear that a major accident could occur at any time.
Addressing the issue, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Devyani Chowdhury informed journalists that the administration has already taken the matter seriously. A special enforcement drive will be launched soon by reactivating naka check points at the town’s entry routes to ensure that heavy vehicles are completely restricted during prohibited hours or in restricted areas.She further stated that several key areas under Dharmanagar Municipal limits had already been declared “No Entry Zones” for heavy vehicles. However, violations are still being reported in some cases. To tackle this, naka points will be strengthened and additional surveillance measures may be introduced if necessary.
The administration has also assured that existing “No Entry” signboards across the town will be repaired and made more clearly visible.Meanwhile, local residents have stressed that issuing orders alone is not enough. They have demanded strict enforcement and regular monitoring, stating that without firm action, the problem will persist. Citizens are urging the authorities to take swift and effective steps to ensure safety in the town.
