Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha Inaugurates District Level Competition Of Making Of Low Cost Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs).

With the initiative of Directorate of Elementary Education Government of Tripura has been organized District Level Competition of making of Low Cost Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs) in all Districts at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan, Agartala on Monday (11th September, 2023). In the presence of many dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the District Level Competition of making of Low Cost Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs).

“The State Government is working responsibly to provide quality education to the students of the state. In this case, the main objective of the Government is to make various policies and programmes related to education and ensure its implementation in real terms. The State Government will not make any compromise in the development of education system”., Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said at the inauguration ceremony of District Level Competition of making of Low Cost Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs) today. On the occasion, the Chief Minister unveiled the class I and II worksheets. At the beginning of the program, the Chief Minister visited the exhibition stalls of TLM products in eight districts of the state and exchanged views with the teachers.

The Chief Minister said on the occasion that NIPUN (National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy) Mission was launched nationwide on July 5, 2021. NIPUN Tripura was launched in the state on 18 November 2022. The success of NIPUN Tripura depends on our teachers. Teachers are the driving force behind this mission. Although engaged in various tasks, teachers are able to teach innovative ideas using various Teaching and Learning Materials (TLM) from NIPUN Tripura in the classroom. A 4-member team from the state education department represented Tripura at the G-20 summit in Pune recently and highlighted the issue of NIPUN Tripura at the international event. The TLM materials developed by state teachers have also been particularly appreciated. 

The Chief Minister said that the Government is implementing various programs with emphasis on the development of the education system to take the state forward. An educational channel called Vande Bharat has been launched to discuss various topics related to education. The Chief Minister said that the State Government has launched ‘Tripura Science Talent Search Examination’ and ‘Math Talent Search Examination’ in 2020 to increase science mentality among the students of class 9 of the state. Every year the state government provides financial assistance to 30 meritorious students to take coaching in national institutes for JEE/NEET exam preparation. Textbooks in 8 ethnic languages like Kokborok, Manipuri, Chakma, Halam, Mog etc. are being distributed among the students. Tuition fees for female students have been waived for studies up to college level. Also, free bicycles have been distributed to about 1 lakh students studying in class IX.

The Chief Minister also added that the State Government has given the highest priority to the development of education system in the budget of the current financial year as well. Initiatives will be taken to establish one model school in each block through the PM Shri scheme. A provision of Rs 50 crore has been earmarked for this in the budget for the financial year 2023-24. A portal has been created to facilitate online admission applications for the weaker and backward students of the society. The State Government has distributed 44,600 bicycles to girl students during the financial year 2022-23 under Cycle to Girls Students scheme. This scheme will continue in the financial year 2023-24 also. For this, a resource of 9 crore rupees has been kept in the budget. The Chief Minister said that a new scheme called ‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana’ has been taken up in the state. In this scheme free scooty will be given to the first 100 female students in the twelve examination.

Raval Hemendra Kumar, Special Secretary of the School Education Department,  NCERT Director N.C Sharma also spoke on the occasion. Teachers from different schools and many others remained present in this programme.
