Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha held a meeting with the District level police officials regarding the law and order situation in the state at Pragna Bhavan, Agartala on Sunday (20th November, 2022). State Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan, Superintendents of Police, OCs of various police stations of the state and other police officers were present in this meeting today.
“The State has a total of 83 police stations, including female police stations. Besides, there are 5 railway police stations, 35 out posts and about 300 police camps in the State. The meeting reviewed various issues including the overall law and order situation in the state. In the meeting, OCs of different police stations and Superintendents of Police of different districts highlighted various problems in their work. The traffic police personnel were also present.” Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said at Press briefing on review meeting with all SPs & OCs. The chief minister said that mainly from the police station, people get services in various matters including maintaining law and order.
The Chief Minister said, 24X7 Women’s Help Desk is operational in 8 Women’s Police Stations of the state to combat organized crime against women. Also 24X7 helpline 109 is operational in the state. “Incidents of murder cases reduced by around 15 percent, a dowry death has reduced by 10 percent, around 35 per cent reduction in molestation. Crimes against women decreased by 30 percent and eve teasing by around 60 percent”, the chief minister said.
