Nagpur, 9th of October, 2025 : The CII Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) successfully hosted the “IGBC Connect – Nagpur” on October 8, 2025, at Hotel Centre Point, Nagpur. The forum brought together a broad spectrum of industry stakeholders, including developers, architects, builders, and sustainability professionals from across the region.
Nagpur’s IGBC Connect roadshow marked a pivotal moment in the city’s journey as a center for sustainable growth and urban transformation. This roadshow was a prelude to IGBC’s national flagship event Green Building Congress 2025, taking place in Mumbai from 27-29 November 2025, at Jio World Convention Centre. Participants were welcomed by Shankar Ghime, Chairman, IGBC Nagpur Chapter, which set a dynamic tone for the evening and fostered commitment toward advancing green practices in the built environment.
A series of technical sessions and supporter presentations provided diverse perspectives on sustainable construction. Anuja Mahale, Associate Counsellor at CII-IGBC, introduced the concept of green homes, shining a light on the potential for sustainable residential development in the city. Mamta Rawat, Founder and CEO of ClimateNama Pvt. Ltd., addressed the theme “Viksit Bharat, Viksit Nagpur,” urging stakeholders to adopt transformative urban practices. Prathamesh Patil of Saint-Gobain Glass and Pravin Charde of Visuddhi Group shared insights into sustainable innovations in their respective sectors. Shankar Ghime concluded the technical session by previewing the upcoming Green Building Congress 2025, inviting participants to continue their engagement with IGBC at the national level.
A robust panel discussion, “Reimagining Nagpur: A Roadmap to a Sustainable and Climate-Resilient City,” featured thought leaders such as Vishwash H. Gupta (CREDAI Nagpur), Kamal Nayak (RBI), Komal Thakur (Ecotecture India), Ghanshyam Dhokne (NAREDCO Vidarbha), Abhilasha Sharma and Himanshu Thakkar (Indian Institute of Interior Designers). The forum delved deep into the challenges and opportunities facing Nagpur, from eco-friendly construction to resource efficiency and policy advocacy.
During his keynote, Shankar Ghime, Chairman, IGBC Nagpur Chapter, said, “Nagpur stands at a crucial juncture, where sustainable development is an aspiration soon to turn into reality. By fostering collaboration between industry, government, and the community, we at IGBC Nagpur chapter are aiming to drive transformative change and position our city as a green and resilient urban space.”
The evening concluded with a lively Q&A session where participants exchanged ideas and built partnerships to advance Nagpur’s sustainable development goals. The members also showed interest in actively participating and engaging with global sustainability leaders who would be present at IGBC’s Green Building Congress, the coming month. The event reaffirmed IGBC’s commitment to nurturing expert dialogue and propelling the city’s green agenda forward.Through collaborative discussions at the IGBC Connect event, participants established a solid foundation for future urban sustainability initiatives. The energy and commitment displayed reflected Nagpur’s readiness to lead in sustainable urbanism, with platforms like the Green Building Congress accelerating the sharing of innovation and best practices across regions. This momentum positioned Nagpur strongly to organize a dedicated summit focused on accelerating climate-resilient and green growth in the future.
