Nagpur, 23rd of May, 2026 : The Indian Institute of Management Nagpur marked a major milestone on Saturday in its journey as 443 students graduated at its 10th Convocation, reflecting the Institute’s steady growth in management education, executive education, research and international academic collaboration.

The graduating cohort included 347 students from the MBA 2024-26 batch, 95 students from Executive MBA programmes across the Nagpur and Pune cohorts, and one Executive Ph.D. scholar. The convocation also became special as IIM Nagpur conferred its first Executive Ph.D. degree, while two students from the University of Lille, France, completed the dual degree programme under the Institute’s international exchange initiative.
JSW Group Chairman Mr. Sajjan Jindalwas the chief guest of the convocation. Deven J. Mehta, Chairman of Sigma Capital Limited, was Guest of honor. IIM Nagpur Director Dr BhimarayaMetri, Chairman of the Governing Board C P Gurnani, members of the Board of Governors, faculty members, were present on the dais.

Delivering the convocation address at IIM Nagpur’s 10th Convocation, Mr. Jindal told the students that great leadership is not built only in high-stakes boardrooms, but through countless decisions made earlier in smaller rooms, with lower stakes, when nobody is watching. “The judgement that looks intuitive in a boardroom is the accumulated product of years of decisions made, reviewed and corrected until pattern recognition becomes deeper than thought,” he said.
In a thoughtful and engaging convocation address, Mr. Jindal drew a parallel between tennis legend Roger Federer’s effortless-looking backhand and the making of world-class businesses and institutions. He said that what appears elegant or natural from the outside is often the result of thousands of repetitions, corrections and consistently maintained standards.

“What looks effortless is almost never effortless. The elegance is real, but what produces it is years of deliberate practice,” Mr. Jindal said, adding that the same principle applies to leadership, business and institution-building.
He told the graduates that in 40 years of building companies, the single most important lesson he had learnt was that great results are rarely sudden. “They are the visible surface of years of execution,” he said.
Mr. Jindal said that India needs leaders who can build with discipline and purpose. He urged the Class of 2026 to lead with integrity, courage and love for the country. “India does not need more people who can only see the future. India needs people who can build it,” he said.
Guest of Honour Mr. Deven J. Mehtaurged the students to carry four important success mantras with them as they move ahead in their professional and personal journeys. “Integrity, hard work, faith and courage are important values which will help you face difficult situations and take sound decisions in life,” he said.
He also called upon the students to remain positive and grounded as they grow in life. “Grow in life and keep smiling,” he said, adding that success should be accompanied by humility and happiness.
Referring to India’s growth story, Mr. Mehta said India is a shining country with immense opportunities ahead. He encouraged the young graduates to actively contribute to the nation’s progress. “India has a lot of growth to achieve. Be a part of India’s growth,” he told the students. Earlier, Dr C P Gurnani declared the convocation open and delivered a welcome address.
