Bringing this beautiful experience to life is ‘Bazahir Kya Hai’, a new ghazal featuring Padma Bhushan awardee Javed Akhtar and Sa Re Ga Ma Mega Finals winner Mohammed Vakil. This special musical presentation will be released on the music platform Goongoonalo.
Part of the album ‘Hamare Shauq Ki’, the ghazal explores the contrast between outward glamour and genuine inner fulfilment. Mohammed Vakil has given a musical dimension to Javed Akhtar’s profound poetry by blending the soul of Indian classical music with elements of contemporary Western music, making its emotions accessible to audiences across generations.
For Mohammed Vakil, translating Javed Akhtar’s poetry into melody has been both an honour and a significant responsibility. Trained in music under Ustad Mohammed Hussain and Ustad Ahmed Hussain, Vakil rose to prominence after winning Sa Re Ga Ma in 1997. Over a career spanning more than three decades, he has carved a distinctive identity for himself in the ghazal genre through his raga-based singing.
