
Based on specific information through special sources, the forest department recovered a large amount of illegally stored wood in the Bagan Bazar of Kalyanpur police station under Teliamura forest division. There are frequent cases of wood smuggling in various areas including Kalyanpur, Krishnapur under Teliamura forest division, few cases the police or the forest department is able to achieve success, otherwise the vast forest area of Teliamura is almost empty.

According to the details of the incident, today under the leadership of Teliamura Forest Officer Supriya Debnath, the forest department and the police recovered valuable wood from an abandoned house of Ratan Mani Das of Bagan Bazar. According to Supriya Debnath, Ratan Mani Das claimed that his house was rented out to some person, and it is assumed that the concerned person was secretly using the house to carry on illegal timber trade. However, based on today’s successful operation, appropriate action will be taken to catch those who are involved in this illegal activity, Forest Officer Supriya Debnath claimed. The estimated market value of today’s seized wood will be more than 3 lakh, according to the sources of the department. A large police force led by OC Tapas Malakar of Kalyanpur police station along with forest personnel has also took active part in the raid.
