Dharmanagar, Tripura, 27th of April 2026 : On Sunday evening, the sky suddenly turned dark with heavy clouds, and within moments, a powerful Kalbaishakhi storm struck the region. The intensity of the storm caused widespread damage across various areas of Dharmanagar subdivision in North Tripura district.
The storm was so severe that large trees were uprooted in multiple locations, electricity poles were damaged, and power lines were snapped, bringing normal life to a standstill. In the Chandrapur area of Dharmanagar, a massive tree suddenly collapsed onto the road, completely disrupting road communication. This created panic among local residents and pedestrians, and vehicular movement remained halted for a considerable time.

Upon receiving information, a team from the Dharmanagar Fire Department promptly reached the spot. With swift action, the firefighters cut and removed the fallen tree, clearing the road. Thanks to their quick response, traffic movement was restored within a short period.
Meanwhile, in the Dighalbak area as well, several large trees were reported to have been uprooted due to the storm. According to local sources, a few houses also suffered partial damage.Power supply was disrupted during the storm, leaving residents in darkness for quite some time. Later, electricity department personnel began repair work to restore services.
Although the sudden Kalbaishakhi storm created panic among the general public, the prompt response of the administration and fire services helped prevent any major disaster.
