Kharchi Puja 2025 : 7 Days Long The Traditional Kharchi Puja Festival Will Start From July 3, 2025.

Agartala, Tripura, 4th of June, 2025 :  The seven-day long the traditional Kharchi Puja Festival Will Start From July 3, 2025 at Khayerpur in Old Agartala, Tripura. A preparatory meeting was held at the West Tripura District Magistrate’s Conference Hall on Tuesday (3rd June, 2025) to organize this festival in the premises of the Fourteenth Gods Temple located in Khayerpur in Old Agartala block. MLA Ratan Chakraborty presided over the meeting. He said that the Kharchi Puja festival is not just a religious event. It is a festival of pride that carries the cultural heritage of the State. Pilgrims from the State and outside the State come to this festival. He sought the joint cooperation of all Government departments, social organizations and people from all walks of life to make this festival a success.

In the meeting, Additional District Magistrate of West Tripura District Sajal Biswas discussed in detail various aspects related to the organization of the Kharchi Puja festival and fair. In the meeting, several important issues were discussed in detail with a view to developing the overall infrastructure of the temple and the surrounding areas focusing on the Kharchi Puja festival and fair. Emphasis was placed on ensuring adequate lighting and power supply on the roads, and maintaining a safe and orderly environment even during the evening and night. It was decided to provide adequate lighting and drinking water in the temple premises and fair premises, as well as health services keeping in mind the comfort of the pilgrims. Due to the increase in the number of people gathered around the fair, a specific plan for determining suitable parking spaces and distributing stalls was discussed to avoid traffic congestion.

It was decided in the meeting that like every year, exhibition stalls will be opened on the premises of the Kharchi Puja Fair this year too by the initiative of various government departments. Through these stalls, various government welfare programs and developmental activities are promoted. So that the general public can benefit more. In addition, colorful cultural programs will be organized every day on the occasion of the fair by the initiative of the Information and Culture Department. Eminent and talented artists from different parts of the state will participate in this program.

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were MLA Swapna Debbarma, Chairman of Old Agartala Panchayat Samiti Jharna Rani Das, Vice Chairman Old Agartala Panchayat Samiti Manti Debnath, Sub-divisional Magistrate of Jirania Sub-division Shanti Ranjan Chakma, Sub-divisional Magistrate of Sadar Sub-division Manik Lal Das, BDO of Old Agartala Block Shantanu Datta and senior officials from various departments were present in the meeting.
