Kolkata, 21st of February 2024 : With the initiative of Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers launched Calendar on the occasion of 50th anniversary celebration of ‘Sonar Kella‘.
The detective story, published in 1971, was released as a film on the screen. Feluda was seen on the screen for the first time. Satyajit Ray brought. As celebrate the film’s 50th year, every line from the iconic trio of Feluda, Topshe, and Lalmohan Babu echoes in our minds.
The film won several awards at the National Awards stage. Among them, Best Bengali Film, Best Director, Best Child Artist etc. are notable. In other countries, it was awarded as the best children’s and teenagers’ film in Tehran. Even after 50 years, ‘Sonar Kella’ continues to remain one of Bengalis’ favourite films.
After 50 years, Mukul returned to his own neighborhood to publish a calendar. Calendar is ‘Sonar Kella’. Sandeep Roy, Topshe – Siddhartha Chatterjee, Mukul– Kushal Chakraborty and Rupak Saha, Director, Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers were present at the launching ceremony of the calendar on the occasion of fifty years of “Sonar Kella”. A house at Padmapukur in Bhavanipur which was featured as a one of the house in Mukul neighborhood in Sonar Kella.
The calendar includes photos from the shooting of the film, lobby cards, booklets, Satyajit Ray’s own hand drawn title cards, Feluda house plans, movie posters, book covers and much more from the collection of prominent Satyajit and collector Debashish Mukherjee.
Sandeep Roy appreciated the Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers. He also said that, the idea of celebrating 50 years of cinema, cinema location is very novel. Siddhartha Chatterjee and Kushal Chakraborty are also impressed with this effort.
Rupak Saha, Director, Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers, said “This effort is a tribute to Shyam Sundar Co. Jewelers on the 50 years anniversary of Sonar Kella. The Sonar Kella will thrill us 100 years from now as much as it thrills us today”.
The event became very heartwarming for all with the joyful reminiscence of all present.
