Lease Agreement Signing Ceremony Between Department Of Tourism, Govt. Of Tripura & IHCL For The Development Of Taj Pushpavanta Palace Hotel.

Agartala, Tripura, 20th of May, 2025 : Lease agreement signed between Department of Tourism, Government of Tripura and Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) of the Tata Group for the development of Taj Pushpavanta Palace Hotel, as a new step towards the development of Tripura.  The lease agreement was signed in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister at Pushpavanta Palace, Agartala, Tripura on Tuesday (20th May, 2025).

Interacting with media Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that, this is the first time that a Tata Group agreement has been signed with a State Government to set up a hotel of the Tata Group. Indian Hotels Company Ltd. (IHCL) will start the construction of the hotel on an area of ​​7.78 acres of the old Raj Bhavan Pushpavanta Palace. The hotel will have 100 rooms of royal style. 4 exclusive rooms will be built. There will also be a few signature suite rooms for tourists to have a royal experience. Each room will be 40 square meters in size. Apart from this, there will be a wellness area, swimming pool, club for kids, fitness center, banquet hall etc. There are also plans to build a convention hall, breakout rooms etc. covering 600 square meters. As a result, the flower-filled palace will be properly maintained and clean and tidy. Being a Tata Group hotel, tourists from home and abroad will also come to the state through their chain.

“The construction of the hotel will not only develop the tourism industry, but also create employment opportunities for those associated with the hotel and tourism industry. This hotel will provide employment to more than 200 local candidates. Tourists coming to the state will be able to learn about the heritage, history and culture of the Maharajas of Tripura. Apart from staying at the hotel, tourists will also visit other tourist destinations in the state, including the traditional Tripura Sundari Temple, Neermahal and Unakoti tourist destinations.”, Chief Minister added.

The Chief Minister said that today is a glorious day for the state of Tripura. The The Government of Tripura has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Hotels Company Ltd. (IHCL) for the construction of this hotel was signed a few months ago. Today, the work has basically started with the signing of the lease agreement. The Pushpavanta Palace, built by Maharaja Birendra Kishore Manikya in 1917, was previously the Raj Bhavan. After the construction of the new Raj Bhavan, the palace remained unused. After the formation of the present government, thoughts were started for the proper use of this palace. There are such modern 5-star hotels in various states of the country. As a result of this agreement, such hotel services will be available in Tripura in the future. The retrofitting work of Pushpavanta Palace has already started.

The Chief Minister also added that tourists coming to the state will visit various tourist centers located in urban areas as well as tourist centers in rural areas. As a result, not only will the people of urban areas develop, but also the people of rural areas will benefit financially. In line with the Prime Minister’s vision of One India, Best India, the state government will also play a helpful role in creating One Tripura, Best Tripura by accelerating the development trend of the state.

In today’s the Lease Agreement signing ceremony apart from the Chief Minister, Hon’ble Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport and Tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Secretary of the Department of Industries and Commerce Kiran Gitte, Secretary, Area Director and General Manager of Indian Hotel Company Limited Jayanta Das, officials and may other dignitaries were present in the events.
