LGBI Airport Returns Foreign Currency Worth Over ₹10 Lakhs To Passenger.

Guwahati, Assam, 30th of June 2026 : What could have become a stressful experience ended with relief and gratitude, thanks to the swift action and seamless coordination of the teams at Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport (LGBIA), Guwahati. Operated by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), India’s largest private airport operator, LGBIA successfully recovered and returned an unattended bag containing foreign currency worth over ₹10.14 lakh to its rightful owner.

On 26 June 2026, during routine security screening at the airport’s Terminal 1, the CISF detected an unattended bag at the Automated Tray Retrieval System (ATRS). Following standard security protocols, the bag was secured and handed over to the airport’s Lost & Found team. Inside were $10,720, 175 Chinese yuan, medicines and personal belongings. The name written on the bag and medicine strips provided the first clue in identifying the passenger.

After reviewing CCTV footage, the Lost & Found team confirmed that the passenger had already boarded a flight to Hyderabad. In coordination with CISF and Hyderabad airport authorities, the passenger was traced, ownership verified and the bag returned to an authorised representative.
