Massive Fire In Jubarajnagar: Three Shops Reduced To Ashes Within Moments, Losses Worth Lakhs.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 7th of May 2026 : A devastating fire broke out amid a severe storm in Yubarajnagar of North Tripura on Wednesday evening. Triggered reportedly by a short circuit during heavy rain and strong winds, the blaze completely gutted three business establishments, leaving the owners devastated and financially ruined.

According to local sources, the fire started between 7:30 PM and 8:00 PM in Ward No. 1 of the jubarajnagar Gram Panchayat area. At the time, the region was experiencing intense thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. The fire initially engulfed two shops before rapidly spreading to a third nearby establishment.

Local resident Imdadul Hossain stated that continuous rain made firefighting operations even more difficult. Dense smoke from the blaze also damaged goods stored in two adjacent shops.The shops belonging to businessmen Mosabbir Ali, Ekramul Hossain, and Nazrul Islam were completely destroyed in the incident.

The affected establishments included a grocery shop, a hardware store, and a cement shop. Preliminary estimates suggest the total loss amounts to nearly ₹15–20 lakh.After receiving the information, the Dharmanagar Fire Service reached the spot, though locals alleged that the delay in their arrival contributed to the extent of the damage. Before the firefighters arrived, residents risked their lives trying to control the flames. Later, the fire was fully brought under control through the efforts of the fire service personnel.The sudden fire incident on a stormy night has cast a shadow of grief across the area. Having lost everything, the affected shop owners are now looking toward the administration for assistance and support.
