Agartala, Tripura, 14th of September, 2026 : Police at East Agartala Police Station have achieved a major breakthrough in the investigation into a sensational gold chain-snatching incident in Agartala’s Bankumari area. After initially apprehending one accused along with the motorcycle allegedly used in the crime near the Radhanagar area, police have now managed to arrest the entire gang involved in the incident.
According to sources, the breakthrough came during a special operation conducted by a team of East Agartala Police Station under the leadership of OC Krishnadhan Sarkar.
During the investigation, police uncovered the involvement of an organised gang in the chain-snatching incident. Following this, police intensified their efforts and successfully apprehended the gang members one by one.
The person identified as the key conspirator or mastermind in the incident is currently undergoing treatment at GB Hospital, according to sources.
Following the chain-snatching incident in Bankumari, East Agartala Police had launched an intensive investigation to apprehend the accused. Finally, after sustained efforts by the police, all members of the gang were brought under the police net, bringing a sense of relief to the local residents.
However, East Agartala Police are continuing their investigation to determine whether any other persons were involved in the snatching gang, how the gang operated, and whether the accused are linked to any other criminal activities or cases.
The local people have hailed the East Agartala Police’s achievement as a major success, particularly in view of the arrest of the entire chain-snatching gang.
