Dharmanagar, Tripura, 4th of May 2026 : After the declaration of results of the Dharmanagar 56 Assembly by-election, CPI(M) candidate Amitabh Dutta set a notable example of political courtesy and democratic values. Rising above victory and defeat, he expressed gratitude for the peaceful completion of the electoral process while also outlining the course of future political struggle.
In a statement following the results, Amitabh Dutta conveyed deep respect to all voters who exercised their franchise fearlessly despite challenging circumstances. He also appreciated the efforts of the Election Commission officials, administrative staff, paramilitary forces, TSR, and state police for their role in conducting the election smoothly.Demonstrating political decency, he congratulated the rival candidates, especially the winning BJP candidate Jahar Chakraborty. He also acknowledged the crucial role of the media in conveying diverse perspectives and messages to the public.
Although victory eluded him in this by-election, Amitabh Dutta made it clear that he remains undeterred. He affirmed that the fight for development, employment, poverty alleviation, and protection of citizens’ rights in Dharmanagar will continue. He further emphasized that the organization will be strengthened through ideology-based politics and mass movements.
