Mid-Day Meal Cooks Demand Regular Payment Of Monthly Honorarium In Khowai.

Khowai, Tripura, 26th of August, 2026 : For the last three months, Mid-Day Meal cooks have not received their minimum monthly honorarium. In protest, all Mid-Day Meal cooks from Khowai district gathered  and submitted a deputation to the District Education Officer, Khowai on Tuesday (25th August, 2026).

According to report for the last three months, the Education Department has not paid the minimum monthly honorarium to Mid-Day Meal cooks. In protest, they submitted a deputation to Khowai District Education Officer Neelmani Debbarma at 3 PM today. They demanded that the minimum honorarium allocated to them be paid regularly every month without interruption.

Interacted with media Mid-Day Meal cooks’ representative Jyotish Debbarma briefed the detail about the issue. He said that they depend on this small amount of honorarium to support their families, but despite three months having passed, their minimum monthly honorarium has still not been credited. Their only demand is that the allocated honorarium be paid to them every month within the stipulated time. He also stated that they had repeatedly approached departmental officials as well as the Chief Minister of the state regarding the matter.
