Minister Sudhangshu Das Urges Everyone To Come Forward And Extends A Helping Hand To Manashree.

Agartala, Tripura, 4th of July, 2026 : Hon’ble SC Welfare, ARD, Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das extended financial assistance of ₹50,000 for the medical treatment of young Manashree Chowdhury. He also said that he would take up the matter with the Chief Minister. In a message shared on social media, the minister appealed to people from all sections of society to come forward and support Manashree’s treatment.

According to sources two years old, Manashree Chowdhury has become the face of a growing social movement across Tripura. She has been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), a rare and severe genetic disorder.

The treatment required for her condition is estimated to cost between ₹16 crore and ₹18 crore. Since her story went viral on social media, people from different parts of the state have come forward in large numbers, launching a collective effort to help save the little girl’s life.

Deeply moved after learning about the case through social media, State Minister Sudhangshu Das, who holds the Fisheries, Animal Resource Development, and Scheduled Caste Welfare portfolios, extended his support to the family.

On Saturday, the minister invited Manashree’s father to his residence and personally handed over ₹50,000 to assist with the child’s medical treatment. He also assured the family that he would reach out to people in his network to mobilize additional financial support for Manashree’s treatment.

Minister Sudhangshu Das state that he has already discussed Manashree’s case with the Head of the Neurology Department at GBP Hospital. According to the department head, a medical board will be constituted on Monday to examine the case and take a final decision on the necessary course of treatment.

The minister also stated that Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha is closely monitoring the matter. He said he would personally meet the Chief Minister and request assistance from the state government for Manshree’s treatment.

Minister Sudhangshu Das appealed to the people of the state to come forward and extend a helping hand to save little Manashree. The minister said, “God resides in every human being. Therefore, there is no point in searching for God in temples while ignoring the God before us.” He urged everyone to unite in support of Manashree, saying that helping save the little girl’s life would itself be an act of service to God.

MLAs from the State have also extended financial assistance to little Manashree. However, Sudhangshu Das is the first minister to come forward with personal support. His humanitarian gesture has been widely appreciated and praised across various sections of society.
