Agartala, Tripura, 4th of July, 2026 : With the initiative of Tripura Working Journalists Association organized voluntary blood donation camp at Press Club, Agartala, Tripura on Saturday (4th July, 2026).

In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial Lamp.
Emphasizing the Importance of voluntary blood donation, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha urged young people to come forward and actively participate in blood donation drives as a part of their social responsibility. He made these remarks while inaugurating a blood donation camp organized during the special session of the West District Committee of the Tripura Working Journalists Association at Agartala Press Club today.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister stated that blood donation is one of the noblest forms of donation, as the blood donated by a single person can save the lives of up to three patients. He highlighted the need for greater awareness and participation among the youth to ensure an adequate supply of blood for those in need. Chief Minister Prof. Saha also noted that modern and advanced techniques are now being used in blood collection procedures. He informed that health parameters such as blood pressure and blood sugar are checked during the donation process to ensure donor safety. He further mentioned that blood bank facilities are now available even at sub-division level hospitals and called upon various social organizations to organize more blood donation camps.
Speaking on the role of the media, the Chief Minister said that media organizations have significant responsibilities toward society and contribute greatly to the development of the state. He described the media as an important bridge between the government and the public, adding that the state government pays attention to objective news reports and takes action whenever necessary. The Chief Minister also highlighted several initiatives undertaken by the government for the welfare of journalists in the state. He stated that journalists have been brought under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and that workshops are being conducted regularly to enhance their professional skills.

Hon’ble Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, who also attended the event, said that there is no substitute for blood donation and urged everyone to contribute in the service of humanity. He further noted that the present state government remains committed to addressing the concerns, demands, and issues faced by journalists.
Amidst the other distinguished dignitaries there were President of Agartala Press Club Pranab Sarkar, senior journalist Subal Kumar Dey and Tripura Working Journalists Association Secretary Sunil Debnath. A total of 21 individuals voluntarily donated blood during the camp.
