New Committee Takes Charge As Lions Club Of Dharmanagar Reaffirms Commitment To Community Service.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 29th of June 2026 : The annual installation ceremony of the Lions Club of Dharmanagar was held on Sunday (28th June, 2026) with renewed enthusiasm and a commitment to community service, as the newly elected committee officially assumed office. The event took place at Rongmahal Bhavan on Thana Road in Dharmanagar and was attended by MLA Jahar Chakraborty along with several distinguished guests from different fields.

As per the rules of Lions International, a new leadership team takes charge every year for a one-year term from July 1 to June 30. To mark the occasion, the club also organized a press conference on Saturday at the Lions Club premises. Among those present were former District Governor and International Director Enrodes M.P. Agarwala from Guwahati, Club Vice President Dipankar Biswas, former District Governor Shubhankar Sen, and other club members.During the press conference, the club highlighted its community service initiatives carried out over the past year. In the field of healthcare, the club organized blood donation camps, free diabetes screening programmes, health awareness campaigns, and observed National Doctors’ Day. Environmental initiatives included tree plantation drives and the “Lions Swachh Abhiyan” cleanliness campaign.

The club also showcased its social welfare activities, including the distribution of blankets to tea garden workers, umbrellas during the monsoon, felicitation of traffic police personnel, clothing distribution to underprivileged children, hunger relief camps, and food distribution at old-age homes. Programmes related to youth development, women’s empowerment, education, and the celebration of National Sports Day were also highlighted.

Among the club’s ongoing service initiatives are its 24-hour ambulance and oxygen support services, safe drinking water supply, the “Vijayalakshmi Self -Reliance Project,” the “Lions Techno Project,” and development work at the Lions Children’s Park.Club representatives said that, guided by their motto, “We Serve,” the newly installed committee is committed to expanding its service activities in the areas of healthcare, education, environmental protection, and humanitarian welfare in the coming year.
