Two days North East Disability Summit organized by Healthy India Chronicle & Tripura University was inaugurated in MBBS Auditorium on Saturday (12th November 2022) by chief guest, Santana Chakma, Hon’ble Minister, Social Welfare and Social Education, Government of Tripura. The program was started with the opening remarks of Amitav Joyprakash Choudhury, Convenor of the Summit. During the speech of Smt. Chakma, she elaborated the activities of Tripura Government for the support of Divyangjan in the state. She has also mentioned that her ministry is sincerely implementing the UDID Card at grass root level, in the state. Further, she has also mentioned that under the patronage of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision for empowerment of Divyangjan. During the Summit Smt. Chakma distributed loans of amount 50 Lakhs to various beneficiaries, 30 numbers of Handicraft Artisan Card, Maruti Car and Neomotion Tricycles to Divyangjans.

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Tripura University Professor Ganga Prasad Prasain has mentioned that the Divyangjan brothers and sisters are an integrated and important part of the society and more emphasis should be given for the development of Divyangjans.

The other distinguished guests, such as the Development Commissioner (Handicraft), Ministry of Textile, representative of National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India and Member, Tripura Scheduled Castes Co-Operative Development Corporation Ltd. have mentioned different scopes and schemes structured for the Divyangjans. President of Indian Medical Association, Tripura has mentioned the importance of Divyangjans and has assured the effective presence of IMA in any requirement for Divyangjans.

Dr. Deepak Sharma, Registrar, Tripura University has also encouraged such activities in his speech and the program was ended with the vote of thanks offered by Professor Sabyasachi Dasgupta, Coordinator of North East Disability Summit and Dean of Student Welfare, Tripura University.
