Dharmanagar, Tripura, 21st of June 2026 : The prestigious “Nripendra Kumar Roy Memorial Auction Bridge Running Tournament”, organized by the Dharmanagar Auction Bridge Committee, was formally inaugurated at the Senior Citizens’ Hall located on the northern bank of Kalidighi in Dharmanagar, North Tripura district. This year marks the second edition of the tournament.The tournament was inaugurated by Dharmanagar MLA Jahar Chakraborty. Several distinguished personalities, sports enthusiasts, and respected members of society were also present at the event.

During the inaugural ceremony, speakers paid tribute to the memory of Nripendra Kumar Roy and called for greater promotion of the game of Bridge.In his inaugural address, MLA Jahar Chakraborty extended his best wishes to all participants and expressed hope for the overall success of the tournament. He stated that Auction Bridge, being a game that requires mental skill, patience, and strategic thinking, helps bring people from different walks of life together and fosters a healthy spirit of competition.

Dharmanagar Auction Bridge Committee Secretary Shib Shankar Roy informed that a total of 28 teams are participating in this year’s competition. The tournament will continue for approximately 45 to 50 days, providing players with ample opportunity to showcase their skills. He further stated that the committee plans to expand the event in the coming years and transform it into a state-level tournament.The competition, being held at the Senior Citizens’ Hall, has already generated considerable enthusiasm among Bridge enthusiasts. The organizers are optimistic that in the coming years, more teams and players will participate, helping Dharmanagar emerge as an important hub for Bridge in Tripura and beyond.
