NUJ(I) National Council Meeting 2026 Held In Ayodhya : Over 200 Journalists from Across India Gather To Discuss Rights, Safety And Welfare Of Journalists.

Ayodhya, 5th of October, 2026 : A significant meeting of the National Council, also known as the Union Council, of the National Union of Journalists (India) (NUJ(I)) is being held in Ayodhya Dham, bringing together journalists from different parts of the country to discuss various important issues concerning the rights, safety, professional dignity and welfare of journalists.

The two-day meeting, being held on October 4 and 5, is being attended by elected National Council members and senior journalists from various states across the country. According to information released by the organisers, around 200 journalist representatives from nearly 22 states are expected to participate in the meeting.

The important conference is being organised at Hanuman Bagh in Ayodhya under the responsibility of the Uttar Pradesh Association of Journalists (UPAJ). NUJ(I) National President Suresh Sharma and National General Secretary Triyug Narayan Tiwari, along with senior journalists and representatives of the organisation from different states, are attending the meeting. The organisation’s official website also lists Suresh Sharma as President and Triyug Narayan Tiwari as Secretary General.

The National Council meeting is expected to hold detailed discussions on various problems faced by journalists and the challenges confronting the profession in the present era. Among the key issues likely to be discussed are the demand for a separate Journalists Protection Law, the establishment of a Media Council, and the formation of a new Wage Board for journalists.

Journalists’ organisations from different states will also place their respective demands and problems before the National Council. From Uttar Pradesh, demands for introducing a pension scheme for journalists and restoring the railway travel concession previously available to journalists are also expected to be raised during the meeting.

The two-day programme has generated considerable enthusiasm among journalists arriving in Ayodhya from different parts of the country. Apart from exchanging views among themselves, National Council members will discuss the present state of journalism, media freedom, professional security of journalists and various challenges facing the profession in the future.

Alongside the official proceedings, the delegates are also scheduled to visit several religious and historical places in Ayodhya. According to the organisers, the representatives will participate in the Saryu Aarti and also visit Ram Mandir and Hanumangarhi for darshan and prayers.

The National Council meeting, which brings together journalists from different parts of the country, is being viewed as significant not only from an organisational perspective but also in terms of safeguarding the rights and professional interests of journalists.

It may be mentioned that the NUJ(I) has been raising issues related to the professional rights, dignity, safety and welfare of journalists at the national level for a long time. The 2026 National Council meeting is also expected to focus particularly on adopting decisions and resolutions on several important issues concerning the interests of journalists.
