With the initiative of Tripura State NSS Cell, YAS Department, Government of Tripura observances of NSS Day and seminar on Drug Free Tripura has been organized at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan, Agartala on Wednesday (2nd November, 2022). Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp along with Hon’ble Youth Affairs & Sports, Information & Cultural Affairs, PWD (DWS) Minister Sushanta Chowdhury.
“The main objective of National Service Scheme (NSS) is to develop one’s personality through social service and active resistance against all dark sides is also one of the responsibilities and duties of NSS volunteers” said Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha at the event of NSS Day and seminar on Drug Free Tripura. The Chief Minister said, people’s disciplined life usually starts from the student age. In addition to studies, sports, yoga exercises, cultural practices and regularly engaged in creative work are the main duties of students.
The Chief Minister said, the state Government is working towards making Tripura a drug-free state. Apart from this, awareness programs are being organized to bring back the addicts to their normal life. Secretary of Youth Affairs and Sports Department Pradip Kumar Chakraborty, Brigadier J.P. Tiwari (Retd.), Director, Sainik Welfare, State NSS officer Dr. Chitrajit Bhowmik also spoke at the event. Many other dignitaries, students were present at the event.
