Sepahijala, Tripura, 2nd of January, 2025 : With The Initiative of Scheduled Caste Welfare Department Government of Tripura celebrated Adwaita Mallabarman’s 111th birth anniversary at Nalchar Dashamighat ground, Nalchar on Thursday (2nd January, 2025). In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial Lamp.
Addressing the celebration of Birth Anniversary of Adwaita Mallabarman Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that used to portray the lives of the weaker sections of society in a simple and straightforward manner in his literature, removing socio-economic barriers. He is remembered for his novel, Titash Ekti Nadir Naam (A River Called Titash). The Chief Minister detailed the various schemes of the State Government for the welfare of the Scheduled Caste community people of the State. He said that the Government has taken various initiatives to encourage the students of the Scheduled Caste community to pursue education. These include pre-matric and post-matric scholarships. The Chief Minister said that the government has also given priority to the empowerment of women of the Scheduled Caste community.
Bamboo artist Subrata Das was awarded the Adwaita Mallabarman Award 2025, Agricultural Science, Ratan Das from Kailashahar, Drama artist Subrata Das from Dharmanagar, renowned Chess player Aaradhya Das from Agartala, Social Activist Laxman Malakar from Belonia, and Sportsman Shubrajit Das from East Nalchhar were awarded the Adwaita Mallabarman Award 2025.
Moreover, in the state-based essay competition organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of Adwaita Mallabarman, Prashanta Sen from Belonia, First and Bishwajit Manik from Sabroom, Second. The guests presented them with honors and prizes at the event.
Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were Hon’ble SC Welfare, ARD, Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das, Sabhadhipati of Zilla Parishad Supriya Das Dutta, , MLA Kishore Barman, District Magistrate and Collector of Sepahijala District, Jayanta Dey and many other dignitaries were present in the event.
