Agartala, Tripura, 27th of June, 2025 : In a heartwarming display of community spirit and social responsibility, the Odia Samaj Tripura once again stepped up to serve the public during the auspicious Holi Rath Yatra in Agartala today. Continuing a commendable tradition from previous years, the organization’s members distributed cold drinking water to thousands of devotees, visitors, and travelers, providing much-needed relief from the afternoon heat.

The voluntary service was set up at Post Office Chowmuhani, in front of Congress Bhawan, a key point along the Rath Yatra procession route. From 2 PM to 7 PM, a dedicated team of volunteers tirelessly distributed nearly 1000 litres of a refreshing mix, including chilled water, ice, and ‘jal jeera’-a popular thirst quencher. The initiative was a resounding success, earning gratitude from the parched crowds who lined the streets to witness the grand procession.

Speaking about the initiative, Samir Diabagh, one of the key executive members present, stated, “Our primary aim is to serve the community and share in the festivities. The Rath Yatra is a significant event for us all, and providing a simple glass of water is our way of showing solidarity and care for everyone celebrating.”
Several other executive members, including Premanand Nathsharma, Satyanarayan Das, Bikash Nayak, Dr. Rabindra Kr. Mohapatra, Tapas Sethy, Badal Patnaik and others, were physically present at the site along with their family members, actively participating in the distribution and overseeing the arrangements. Their hands-on involvement underscored the Samaj’s commitment to its social welfare programs.

Odia Samaj Tripura, a registered body, has been a cornerstone of cultural and social life in Tripura. The organization works to promote Odia culture, traditions, and language, while also engaging in a wide range of social activities for the benefit of both the Odia community and the broader population of Tripura. From cultural programs to humanitarian aid, the Samaj consistently demonstrates its dedication to community welfare.

Looking ahead, the Samaj has pledged to continue its humanitarian efforts. They are already planning similar voluntary programs for the upcoming Ulta Rath and other significant festive occasions in the state, ensuring their service to the public remains an ongoing commitment.
This noble act by the Odia Samaj Tripura not only provided physical relief to the devotees but also set a powerful example of how community-based organizations can contribute to the well-being of society.
