Khowai, 1st of July, 2024 : With the initiative of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tripura Two Month long STOP Diarrhoea Campaign 2024 opening ceremony at New Town Hall, Khowai on Monday (1st July, 2024). In the presence of many dignitaries Zilla Parishad President Jaydeb Debbarma inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.

Addressing at the opening ceremony, Dr Nirmal Sarkar, Chief Medical Officer, Khowai District said that the health department is constantly working and monitoring. The chief health officer of the district requested everyone to be aware. Students of various schools, Anganwadi workers and helpers were present in this event.

The goal behind the STOP Diarrhoea Campaign 2024 is to attain zero child deaths due to childhood diarrhoea. While the existing diarrhoea strategy entailed a 2-week campaign with pre-positioning of ORS to under-5 children and limited IEC, the new strategy involves a 2-month long campaign with pre-positioning of 2 ORS packets and zinc as a co-packaging to under-5 children. It will also involve through different platforms and collaboration across multiple sectors, including health, water and sanitation, education, and rural development.

Apart from the District President, Vice President of Khowai Zilla Parishad Harishankar Pal, Chief Medical Officer of Khowai District Dr. Nirmal Sarkar, Medical Superintendent of Khowai District Hospital Mridul Das, District Officer of Social Welfare and Social Education Department Sujit Das and others dignitaries were present in the opening ceremony.
