Dharmanagar, Tripura, 22nd of May 2026 : A significant press conference was held on Friday at the conference hall of the District Magistrate’s office in North District regarding the upcoming Census 2027. During the conference, the administration provided detailed information about the preparations, new guidelines, and data collection process for the census.Present at the event were Director of State Census Operations Ratan Biswas, Assistant General of the Census Operations Team Shubajit Debroy, Additional District Magistrate of North District Bijoy Sinha, along with several other administrative officials. Officials at the press conference stated that Census 2027 will be one of the country’s largest administrative and statistical exercises.

The census has been divided into two phases. In the first phase, door-to-door data collection will be conducted from August 1 to August 30. The second phase will take place from July 17 to July 31, during which citizens will be able to self-register their information.Through this programme, accurate data will be collected to help formulate development plans, implement government schemes, and determine various social and economic statistics of the population. The entire exercise will continue for a total of 45 days.
Director of State Census Operations Ratan Biswas stated that modern technology is being increasingly used to make the census process more transparent and accurate. This time, citizens will have the opportunity to enter their own information through an online portal. Special emphasis will be placed on digital methods of data collection to ensure quick and reliable data storage.He further informed that special training arrangements will be made for the personnel engaged in the census work. He also emphasized that the active cooperation of the public is essential for the successful completion of this massive programme.
Additional District Magistrate of North District Bijoy Sinha said that the district administration is fully prepared to ensure the successful implementation of the census operations. He appealed to all citizens to cooperate with the administration by providing accurate information.
