Dharmanagar, Tripura, 24th of February, 2026 : Residents of South Kachargat in Kailashahar staged a road blockade on Tuesday afternoon, demanding an immediate resolution to the ongoing drinking water crisis in the area.Carrying buckets and pitchers, local residents took to the streets and blocked the three-point junction at South Kachargat in protest. The demonstration led to severe traffic congestion, bringing vehicular movement to a complete halt from all three directions. Several vehicles and pedestrians were stranded due to the blockade.The affected residents belong to a section of Ward No. 6 under the Kailashahar Municipal Council.

According to them, the locality has been facing an acute shortage of drinking water for nearly a year. Despite repeatedly informing the concerned department and the local councillor, no permanent solution has been provided.Protesters warned that if the issue is not resolved at the earliest, they will intensify their agitation in the coming days.As of the time of filing this report, no administrative officials had reached the spot.
