Agartala, Tripura, 7th of June 2026 : In a unique effort to enhance access to nutritious food and create sustainable livelihood opportunities, the Rotary Club of Agartala, in collaboration with the National Egg Coordination Committee and Egg Bank, distributed modern four-wheeled Egg & Chicken Carts to five underprivileged street vendors on Saturday (6th June, 2026). The initiative aims to support both public nutrition and the economic empowerment of small vendors.
The modern carts were officially handed over to the beneficiaries at a formal gathering held in the Orient Chowmuhani area of Agartala. The initiative aims to make quality eggs and chicken more accessible to the public, spread awareness about their nutritional benefits, and strengthen the livelihoods of street vendors by enabling them to earn a sustainable income.
According to Rotary Club representatives, the upgraded carts will help vendors maintain higher standards of cleanliness and hygiene while serving food, making their businesses more appealing to customers. Besides improving service quality, the initiative is expected to contribute to increased income for the beneficiaries. The club authorities further informed that similar community-oriented programmes aimed at uplifting disadvantaged sections of society will continue in the coming days.
Amidst the other distinguished dignitaries there were, Rotary Club of Agartala President Rotarian Kishalay Ghosh, Secretary Rotarian Dr. Priyanath Das, and Egg Bank representative Rotarian Balmiki. Justice Arindam Lodh, President of Agartala Press Club Pranab Sarkar, Assistant Governor of Zone XVI Rotarian Subir Som, other club members and many other distinguished dignitaries were present at the event.
