Sabroom, Tripura, 1st August, 2026 : In connection with the theft at Daityeswari Kali Bari in Sabroom on 27 December 2024, Sabroom Police identified the accused through CCTV footage installed at the temple. Accordingly, PRC-11/25 (WP), arising out of Sabroom Police Station Case No. 46 of 2024, was registered.
During the investigation, Sabroom Police arrested three alleged notorious thieves: Chentu Tripura (19), a resident of Ghorakappa; Sajal Nama (26), a resident of Nama Para, Sabroom; and Jhulan Nama (26), also a resident of Nama Para, Sabroom.

The accused were arrested under Sections 331(4)/ 305/112(2), and 317(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Government Advocate of Sabroom Sub-Divisional Court, Gauranga Nath, stated that after considering the charges framed against the three accused, the Court at Sabroom found them guilty and sentenced each of them to three years of imprisonment along with a fine of ₹10,000.
In default of payment of the ₹10,000 fine, each convict will have to undergo an additional four months of imprisonment.

Outside the Sub-Divisional Court, the wife of Sajal Nama stated that both Sajal Nama and Jhulan Nam are also facing several other criminal cases, including a murder case in Agartala.
