Agartala, Tripura, 26th of May 2026 : On specific information of the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF) secret operation was launched in Agartala Railway Station Monday (25th May, 2026). According to the sources, RPF & GRP, arrested two (2) drug peddlers from Agartala Railway Station and seized total of 16.510 Kg Ganja.
According to sources, Tripura Railway Police on 25th May, 2026 at 1500 hrs, apprehend 02 accused persons namely 1) Surajit Das (24) S/O Sri Sujit Das of Malaynagar Ward no-02 PS- Srinagar West District and 2) Ripan Bhowmik (26) S/O Ratan Bhowmik, Jogendranagar Madhyapara Ward no-32, PS- West Agartala at Agartala railway station DEMU shed area along with total 16.510 Kgs of contraband ganja in their respective bags along with two motor bikes which are one Red and black colour Pulser Bike bearing Registration no- TR01-AK- 6847 and one Black color Pulser NS-160 Bike bearing Registration no- TR01-AX-8987.
The value of this Ganja is Rs- 2 Lakh approx in black market. Accordingly Railway Police arrested them and seized the contraband ganja. A specific case vide Agartala GRPS case no- 2026/GRP/036, dtd-25/05/2026, U/S- 20(b)(ii)(C)/25/29 of NDPS Act 1985 has registered against them.
Interacted with media Inspector Raju Bhowmik, Officer in Charge Agartala Railway Police Station gave details about this today. OC also stated that such operations against illegal contrabands would continue next day.
