Dharmanagar, Tripura, 26th of May 2026 : One of the oldest and most prestigious cultural institutions of Dharmanagar in North Tripura, Kalamandal, has organized a series of colorful events and workshops to make its 40th anniversary celebration, marked as the Ruby Jubilee, truly memorable. Amid an emotional and festive atmosphere, a continuous series of cultural workshops and programs has already begun.The head of the institution, Santosh Sutradhar, informed that a total of three special workshops have been arranged this year.

Among them, a folk dance workshop was successfully conducted from May 20 to May 24. A Kathak dance workshop began on Tuesday, May 26, and will continue until June 2. Alongside this, a special Rabindra Nritya (Rabindra dance) workshop will be held from May 27 to June 2.Renowned cultural personality Dr. Alok Bandopadhyay will be present at the Rabindra dance workshop, creating much excitement among culture enthusiasts.The inaugural ceremony of the Kathak workshop on Tuesday was attended by distinguished Kathak dance guru Pandit Kishan Mohan Maharaj from Delhi and Minu Garu. Also present at the event were tabla guru Dulal Acharya, Kalamandal Chairman Santosh Sutradhar, along with several other cultural personalities and guests.
On behalf of Kalamandal, it was announced that after the completion of the three workshops, special stage performances and cultural programs will be organized from June 2 to June 6 at the Vivekananda Sardha Shatabarshiki Bhavan in Dharmanagar. Along with performances by artists trained in the workshops, the event will feature dance, music, and various cultural presentations.Artists from Dharmanagar, Agartala, and Silchar are expected to participate in the celebrations. Considerable enthusiasm has already been noticed within Dharmanagar’s cultural circle surrounding the Ruby Jubilee celebration of Kalamandal’s 40th anniversary.
