Agartala, 9th of January 2024 : The 12-day long 18th Regional SARAS Fair (SARAS Mela) concluded at International Fair Ground, Hapania, Agartala. The theme of this year’s SARAS Fair is ‘Lakhpati Didi Tripura’s Progress’ (‘Lakhpati Didi Tripura’s Agragati). Hon’ble SC Welfare, ARD, Fisheries minister Sudhangshu Das was present as the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony. “The State Government is working with special importance on make women self-reliance. For this purpose women associated with Self Help Groups are being made self-reliance. Already 83 thousand have become Lakhpati Didi in the State.”, the ARD, Fisheries Minister said at the 18th Regional SARAS Fair closing ceremony. He also added that the development of the state will be accelerated if women in rural areas can be made self-reliant. A total of 385 stalls including 331 stalls of various Self Help Groups (SHGs) participated in the Saras Mela this year, showcasing the with their produce. A total of ₹ 4.6 crore was sold in the fair.
Chief Executive Officer of TRLM Brahmnit Kaur delivered the welcome speech on the occasion. Sabhadhipati in-charge of Paschim Tripura Zilla Parishad Haridulal Acharjee, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar and many others remained present in the closing ceremony.
