Sonamura-Jatrapur Police Arrest Main Accused in Minor Abduction Case.

Sonamura, Tripura, 7th of September, 2026 : On September 1, a written complaint was lodged at Sonamura Police Station alleging that a boy, along with his family members, had abducted a minor girl and subsequently threatened and intimidated her family, warning them not to inform the police.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Sonamura Police Station under sections related to abduction, criminal intimidation, and criminal conspiracy. During the investigation, the minor girl was rescued, while the main accused’s relatives were arrested and produced before the Hon’ble Court. However, the main accused had been absconding since the incident, allegedly fleeing in his vehicle.

In the early morning on Monday, a joint team from Sonamura Police Station and Jatrapur Police Station arrested the main accused from the K.K. Nagar area under Jatrapur Police Station. The vehicle allegedly used by the accused, a Maruti Eeco bearing registration number TR-07H-0765, was also seized.

The accused was produced before the Hon’ble Court today. Police have also prayed before the Court for the addition of appropriate legal sections in connection with the allegation of having a physical relationship with the minor girl.

Authorities have advised all adults and minors to refrain from such unlawful activities. It was further stated that appropriate legal action would be taken against anyone who engages in, supports, or encourages such acts.
