State Level Observance Of National Panchayati Raj Day 2025.

Agartala, Tripura, 3rd of May 2025 : With the initiative of Education Department Government of Tripura,  State level programme for the National Panchayati Raj Day 2025 has been organized at  Gram Swaraj Bhavan, State Panchayat Resource Centre, A.D Nagar, Agartala Tripura on Saturday (3rd May, 2025). In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.

Addressing at the State level programme for the Observance Of National Panchayati Raj Day 2025, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that the Panchayati Raj system has played an important role in the overall development of the country. At present, the Panchayati Raj system of the State has occupied a significant place in the entire country. In recognition of this, the state’s Gomati  District and Ganganagar block of Dhalai district were recently awarded the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2024. In recognition of the commendable work at the Panchayat level, Tripura has received 7 National Panchayati Raj Awards.

“The state’s development is moving in the right direction, and out of the nearly 2.5 lakh Panchayats in the country, various Panchayats in the State are being awarded national awards. This has been possible due to honesty, dedication, discipline and transparency in work. The Panchayati Raj system is an important pillar of rural administration in India. This system strengthens democracy. Because the local people are directly involved in it and play an important role in formulating various developmental works like health, education, drinking water, roads etc. at the village level. Narendra Modi assumed the responsibility of the country as the Prime Minister in 2014, he has taken various steps with maximum priority on rural development. He always said that the overall development of the country and the state is not possible without the development of villages.” , Chief Minister said.

“In the last two years, 44 new Panchayat buildings, 4 District Panchayat Resource Centers and 8 Panchayat Learning Centers have been built to develop the infrastructure of the Panchayats of the state. Initiatives have been taken to upgrade 25 institutions including 15 Panchayats to the international standard ISO status. E-offices have been launched at every level of the state due to the advent of digital technology. Online transactions and UPI payment systems are available in every Panchayat, which is not only a timely step but also a symbol of transparency.” Chief Minister added.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has highly appreciated the ‘Amar Sarkar’ portal launched in the State to resolve the problems of the people. The Chief Minister is helping the Panchayats to become model Panchayats through Model Village Development. According to the Panchayat Devolution Index (PDI) published by the Central Government, Tripura has occupied the seventh position in the country. Where in 2015, Tripura’s position was 13th.”, Chief Minister added.

The Chief Minister also added that this year’s budget has provided funds to strengthen 3,500 self-help groups through a revolving fund and 4,500 self-help groups through a community investment fund. In addition, the budget includes the construction of a District Panchayat Resource Center at a cost of Rs 2 crore in West Tripura district under Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA). One Panchayat Learning Center and 61 Panchayat Bhaban will be constructed in each of the 27 Panchayats of the state.

An MoU was signed with the Indian Institute Of Management (IIM) Shillong) on training of the Panchayat Department. The Director of the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong and the Secretary of the Rural Development (Panchayat) Department signed the MoU on behalf of the State Government. The Chief Minister and other guests unveiled the Smart Office of the State Panchayat Resource Centre, the monthly booklet Grameen Srijan, and the cover of the annual booklet of the departmenjtjt. Moreover, all the Panchayats in the state were declared as Divyangjan Friendly Panchayats on the day.

Abhishek Singh (IAS) Secretary of Rural Development (Panchayat) Department delivered the welcome address at the event.  Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were Professor Nalini Prabha Tripathi, Director of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong, Sabhadipati of 8 district of the State, and may other dignitaries were present in the celebration ceremony.  Prasun De, Director of Rural Development (Panchayat) Department delivered the vote of thanks.
