Agartala, 9th of February 2024 : Coming under the pressure of concerted psychological and physical operations by Tripura Police, today on 09-02-2024, six NLFT (PD group) extremists namely (1) Jatindra Tripura (36) @ Modi S/O Late Sung Kumar Tripura of Surjyaham para, PS-Anandabazar, North Tripura District, (2) Mokhiram Tripura (36) S/O Shri Alindra Tripura of Surjyaham para, PS- Anandabazar, North Tripura District, (3) Pradip Tripura (27) S/O Late Hemendra Tripura of Biswaram Roaja Para, PS-Chawmanu, Dhalai District, (4) Romawia Reang (50)@ Empro S/O Late Kapdura Reang of Setu para, PS-Anandabazar, North Tripura, (5) Johanjoy Reang (36) S/O Late Binanda Reang of Aniram para, PS-Kanchanpur, North Tripura and (6) Mani charan Tripura (38) @ Bocheng S/O Shri Paban Mohan Tripura of New Dalapati (Madhuhari para), PS-Gandacherra, Dhalai District crossed over to India territory from their hideout in Bangladesh to join the main stream of life and surrendered before Tripura Police before Shri Krishnendu Chakravertty, DyIGP (Intelligence) at SB Head Quarters Agartala with (A) Chinese rifles- 02 Nos, (B) Country made Sten gun-01 No, (C) 06 Nos live rounds (70mm). (D) Chinese Grenade -02 Nos, (E) 7.62 live rounds-15 Nos, (F) Extortion notice book-02 Nos and (G) Bangladesh taka 1000/-. The group of six having been cornered and getting motivated, renounced the path of bloodshed and made a choice of peace. This group of NLFT(PD) has been operationally very active across the fence in Bangladesh. They joined extremist outfit in between 2017 and 2022.
Since January 2022, large number of NLFT cadres surrendered before security forces. So far, 36 active members of NLFT surrendered before Tripura Police and security forces. During the period, 8 cadres of NLFT have been arrested by Tripura Police. With the surrender of 06 (six) cadres toady on 09-02-2024, Tripura has made a remarkable pathway in making the state insurgency free. It is a significant achievement for Tripura Police as far as militancy is concerned. It will surely further pave the way for remaining fractions of NLFT to make a beeline for peace abjuring violence. It is definitely a committed effort by Tripura Police for ensuring the goal of Law & Order and development.
