Rupaichhari, South Tripura, August 28, 2026: A major step towards strengthening technology transfer and farmer-centric agricultural extension services was taken under the Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP) with the successful conduct of a Block-Level Workshop on the Extension Protocol of Krishi Sakhi at Rupaichhari R.D. Block.

The workshop brought together Agriculture CSPs to enhance their capacity in transferring improved agricultural knowledge, technologies and services from technical institutions to farmers at the grassroots level. The training was imparted by the Agriculture Specialist, TRESP, Mr.Subrara Shib with valuable technical inputs from experts of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (AFW) and Tripura Space Applications Centre (T-SAC). A Sector Officer from the Department of Agriculture also participated in the session.

The workshop particularly focused on the roles, responsibilities and extension protocol of Krishi Sakhi, enabling them to act as an effective bridge between agricultural experts and farming communities. Through this grassroots mechanism, farmers can receive timely information on modern farming practices, improved technologies, crop management, climate-resilient practices and available agricultural services.

The initiative also highlighted the importance of institutional convergence and knowledge sharing among TRESP, T-SAC and the Department of Agriculture for ensuring that agricultural technologies reach the last mile and translate into improved productivity, income and livelihood opportunities for rural and tribal farmers.

The Krishi Sakhi model under TRESP is therefore emerging as an important mechanism for taking technology from the laboratory and technical institutions to the field, making agricultural extension more accessible, participatory and farmer-centric.
