Agartala, Tripura, 9th of September, 2026 : On specific information of the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF) secret operation was launched in Agartala Railway Station on Wednesday (9th September, 2026). According to the sources, RPF & GRP, arrested one (1) drug peddler from Agartala Railway Station and seized total of 27.720 Kg Ganja.
According to sources, Tripura Railway Police on Wednesday (9th September, 2026) at about 01 PM, SI Pankaj Biswas and other Agartala GRPS staff managed to catch one person namely Biswambar Chandra Dey (37), S/O-Sri Sankar Chandra Dey Of Sonamura, near Sonamura Hospital Road, PS-Sonamura District-Sepahijala, Tripura at Agartala Railway Station on platform no-01 in front of Parking area in between RPF Post Agartala and pay & use toilet along with total 27.720 Kg of suspected to be contraband narcotic Ganja in a two trolley bags.
The destination market value of NDPS items is approximately to be ₹15 Lakh in black market.
Accordingly GRPS arrested person and seized the contraband Ganja. A specific case vide Agartala GRPS case no-2026GRP066, U/S-20(b)(ii)(C)/29 of NDPS Act-1985 has registered against him.
Interacted with media Inspector Raju Bhowmik, Officer in Charge Agartala Railway Police Station gave details about this today. OC also stated that such operations against illegal contrabands would continue next day.
