Tripura’s Abhinaba Banik Of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Viveknagar, Awarded As The First Team At National Project Presentation At ISRO’s NRSC, Hyderabad.

Agartala, 7th of June, 2024 : With the initiative of  Indian Space Research Organisation is organising a special programme for School Children called “Young Scientist Programme” “YUva VIgyani KAryakram”, YUVIKA, to impart basic knowledge on Space Technology, Space Science and Space Applications to the younger students in emerging trends in space science and technology amongst the youngsters, who are the future building blocks of our nation.

Abhinaba Banik (Sec-C, Roll No-1) Class 10 student of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya,  Viveknagar was awarded first prize in project formulation and presentation of “Young Scientist Programme” “YUva VIgyani KAryakram”, YUVIKA Young Training 2024 at National Remote Sensing Centre, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Hyderabad.

Only 360 students out of 300,000 students have been selected in the initial round of this national level open YUVIKA Indian Space Ministry YUVIKA Quiz, out of which 45 students have been selected for one-time training at National Remote Sensing Centre, ISRO, Hyderabad Young Scientist Programme – YUVIKA got an opportunity to go to the camp, where 9 other students from Tripura including Abhinaba Banik were given an opportunity.

Young Scientist Youth Scientist Program at Enlisted National Remote Sensing Centre, ISRO Hyderabad – A Project Competition on Space Science was also organized during YUVIKA training period from 12th May to 24th May and during summer vacation under the valuable guidance of Dr. Prakash Chauhan, Director, NRSC, ISRO Hyderabad, where novel Banik presented the project with his team of presenters and participants among 45 students and was awarded the first prize in the NRSC Scientist Pairs Trial and a special trophy from NRSC ISRO scientists.

Abhinaba Banik and his team have also won accolades. Abhinaba Banik also bagged a trophy as a prize in the Space Science Quiz conducted by a team of scientists from NRSC ISRO Hyderabad. Abhinaba  Young Scientist was also felicitated with a certificate of participation in YUVIKA, a youth scientific program and was also honored with books on space science, ISRO bags etc. kits.

Abhinaba Banik has been invited and selected for the side camp organized at the National Remote Sensing Centre, Hyderabad as part of YUVIKA, a special student youth scientific program of the Indian Space Research Organization under the Ministry of Space Research, Government of India.

Abhinaba Banik, a student of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya,  Viveknagar Amtali, will pass class 10 this year. ISRO was conducting this YUVIKA summer vacation camp from May 12. This party was at the National Remote Sensing Centre in the presence of Abhinaba ISRO’s great scientists at the Young camp and learned about various space science research.

Astronauts selected for India’s first manned space mission, the Gaganyaan project, met YUVIKA’s participating students for science discussions for the first time. Jessore C After the announcement of the names of these Gaganyaan Yatris of the Gaganyaan Mission by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ramakrishna Mission School student Abhinaba Banik has attracted the attention of the country’s scientists by asking the first questions of the Gaganyaan Yatris at the first conference of science discussions.

The other 9 students from Tripura are Anannya Sen of Udaipur Brilliant Star, Kaushik Debnath of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Ritesh Guha Roy, Gaurav Dhar, Priyanshu Bhowmik of KVNIT, Subal Adhikari, Subhradeep Das. He received this award for the first time by presenting the project as a son of Tripura.

This is the first time that any YUVIKA camp from Tripura has participated in NRSC ISRO Hyderabad and the YUVIKA participating students have won first place. The function of YUVIKA Hyderabad was chaired by Scientist Goru Srinivasa Rao, Chairman Hyderabad YUVIKA and Deputy Director of NRSC, Member Secretary and Chandrayaan Mission Participating Scientist Srinivasa Reddy P, Bhuvan Project Chief Scientist A Leslie, Scientist Shubham Das, Controller NRSC Scientist Ankur Srivastava, Associate Director Scientist P Srinivasulo, Scientist Deputy Director N Aparna etc.

Abhinaba Banik has earlier successfully represented his science related research on Covid protocol with state level first prize honors at the 108th Indian National Science Congress held at Nagpur and also at the 30th National Children’s Science Congress session held at Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Moreover, Abhinaba Banik received India International Sarabhai Student Scientist Award 2020 from Tripura for the first time as a part of VIPNET program under Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, whose commemorative award was handed over to him by the then Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Government of Tripura at an annual award ceremony of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya,  Viveknagar Secretary, Swami Subhokarananda Maharaj.

Abhinaba Banik won the Sir JC Bose International Science Math Puppetry Film Festival Award at a ceremony organized by Vipnet under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, for his puppet film focusing on the events of Jagdish Chandra Bose’s life through puppet dance.

Abhinaba Banik represented the school as a representative of the school in the national quiz competition of Bharat Bikash Parishad as a state level successful student and also represented the school at Nerist Bhawan in Itanagar along with teacher Sukanta Sharma in the regional session. Abhinaba Banik had the honor of attending the first National Science Day in Amrit Kal 2023 organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi as an invited student guest.

Abhinaba Banik has previously been selected for the Cultural Talent Search Scholarship 2021 – 2022 organized by the Center for Cultural Resource and Training – CCRT under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India for the first time and the only one from the state of Tripura in the visual arts and sculpture category. An outstanding sculpture “Jaya Maa Sridurga” by Abhinaba Banik is also on permanent display at Saradadevi Chitrashala at Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Viveknagar, Amtali.

On the occasion of National Youth Day 2024, Abhinaba Banik was officially felicitated in a special felicitation program organized by the Department of Youth and Sports, Government of Tripura at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan in Agartala. Hon’ble Minister Tinku Roy handed over the road to him after greeting him.

Hon’ble Chief Minister, Hon’ble Secretary of Youth Sports Department and dignitaries including Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Viveknagar Branch Principal Swami Subhakarananda Maharaj were present on the occasion. His mother Mamata Goswami and grandmother Kanan Banik, residents of Dhaleshwar Road No. 8, and his father, teacher Anjan Banik, recipient of the National Award for Science and Technology Communication 2022-24 from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, are sincerely happy for his success. Happy with this success, he was blessed by elders, teachers and other relatives.
