With the initiative of Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India in collaboration with State of Tripura Two-day Regional Workshop on the Acts/Rules and implementation of Schemes and Programme has been organized at Hotel Polo Tower, Agartala on Friday, (25th November, 2022). In the presence of dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has inaugurated Two-day Regional Workshop by lighting the lamp.

“The Two-day workshop on Acts/Rules and implementation of schemes of Social Justice & Empowerment Department holds great importance. The State Government is also appropriately implementing different flagship schemes of the Central Government for the welfare of senior citizens and people of SC and OBC communities of the state”, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said at inaugural ceremony of the Regional Workshop. The Chief Minister also said that the Social Welfare & Social Education department of the State Government has been implementing Maintenance and Welfare of Parent and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 in all districts and sub-divisions of the state since 2008.

The Chief Minister said, the present State Government is working cooperatively with Social Welfare & Social Education department, Tripura Aids Control Society, Sports department, Skill Development department and Health department on reducing Drug & Substance Abuse in the state. Awareness based programs are being conducted on grass root level to keep the young generation away from drug abuse.

Anjali Bhawra, Hon’ble Secretary of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, Pratima Bhoumik, Hon’ble MP and Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Santana Chakma, Hon’ble Minister Social Welfare & Social Education also spoke on the occasion. SC Welfare Minister Minister Bhagaban Das, OBC Welfare Minister Ram Prasad Paul, Santosh Kumar Suman, Hon’ble Minister SC Welfare, Government of Bihar, Chief Secretary of the state J. K. Sinha and dignitaries were present at the ceremony.
